Kara Friedenberg, Co-Chairperson and Director of Facilities & Staff
Kara attended the HOBY Maryland seminar in 1993, and has been volunteering for the HOBY New York Metro & Long Island seminar for the past five years. Kara is a Senior Manager in KPMG LLP’s Asset Management Tax practice. She earned a BS in Economics with a concentration in Accounting from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and her MBA from Fordham University. In addition to HOBY, Kara is involved in a number of other volunteer organizations, including Junior Achievement and Hedge Funds Care.
Resa Macalisang, Co-Chairperson and Director of Programming Resa has been a volunteer for HOBY New York Metro since 1996. She was first introduced to HOBY while working at a Big 4 Consulting firm. Her manager at the time invited her to a mandatory “meeting” which he said would help launch her career. Several hundred volunteer hours later, she is attending her 12th HOBY Seminar. Resa is currently a Principal with Acquis Consulting Group, a management consulting company that focuses on strategy and operational improvement. At Acquis, Resa is the one inviting people to “meetings”.
Ann Marie Hollywood, Director of Recruitment
Ann Marie attended the HOBY NY conference in 1994. She has been volunteering with HOBY for many years in Connecticut, Central Florida, and New York. Ann Marie received her undergraduate degree in Public Relations. After graduating college she spent three years working for the Walt Disney World Company and Gaylord Entertainment. She then moved back to New York to be close to her family and earned her Masters Degree in Elementary & Special Education in 2006. She now works with emotionally disturbed children in the NYC Department Education and is trying to start her own cookie/candy business!
Kate Lynch, Director of Fundraising
Kate attended the Ohio West HOBY conference in 1993. She has been volunteering with HOBY in Ohio or New York for more than ten years. Today, Kate is a vice president at Bear Stearns in the Investment Banking department, as part of the Financial Institutions Group. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classics from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio in 1998 and an MBA from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University in 2002. In her spare time, Kate is an active member of the New York Road Runners club, and has completed five half-marathons.
Conrado Formanes, Technical Advisor
This is Conrado's first year volunteering with HOBY New York Metro. He is an alumni of St. John's University earning a BS in Computer Science. He
has been the Director of Information Technology for over 14 years for
various companies. In his spare time, he travels around the world and
engages in extreme sports. Conrado will try to run his third New York City
Marathon this year.
Mary Beh Pitta Adelson
Mary Beth attended HOBY New York South in 1987, and has since been an active volunteer for the program on both the local and national level. She earned a BA from Long Island University, CW Post Campus and a JD for Touro Law Center and is now a consultant with Riversville Capital, a financial services group. When not volunteering for HOBY she also volunteers with the Junior League of the City of New York. HOBY has played such an important part of her life that at her recent wedding the majority of the bridal party were HOBY alums, HOBY volunteers, or both!
Anton attended the HOBY New York South (as HOBY NY Metro was formally known) seminar in 1999, and has been volunteering for the HOBY New York Metro & Long Island seminar for the past nine years. Anton is a Senior Legislative Assistant for Assemblyman Peter M. Rivera. He earned his BA/MA in Political Science from the University at Albany, SUNY. In addition to HOBY, Anton is involved in a number of other volunteer organizations, including Kiwanis International and Free and Accepted Masons. Anton is currently running Capitol Region NY campaign for Senator Barack Obama for President.
